With six months to go, could everyone with their names down please confirm (via pm) if they are still, provisionally, attending. This will give us a clearer idea of numbers, at this stage, and also help get the info to those who need it.

Many thanks
Dan

(Better clear out my in-box!)

ps. Those who have already pm'd me need not do so again

pps. If you are bringing more than vehicle (or reducing the number) can you please indicate this in your PM. Cheers

Hi All, Come on people there are only 26 confirmations out of 237 Fronty owners given to Dan, people are working very hard behind the scenes to get this organised, so if you you want to be a part of a Guiness World Record attempt this maybe the only chance you have in your lifetime. Just picture the scene 250 + Fronty's at one venue, I am sure the powers to be will organise a great day for us all, I can't wait personally, not just to be a part of a great day but just to say thank you in person to people who have always been there to offer me advice and meet the usual suspects.

I appreciate some of you are working but make a big effort to take just one day off, so you can say " I Was There "

I will stick up for the half a dozen who have PM'd me and are waiting for confirmation of the date before they commit themselves but it is still a shockingly low reply rate.

I hope that once Ian has fixed the date I will be inundated with messages.

I have, in the mean time, started a database and spread sheet to help with the confirmation process so, if you areprovisionally still attending, pending confirmation of the date please get in touch.

Many Thanks
Dan

Which I did receive. Didn't highlight your name because I was waiting to see if you were in the Cabby or the Fronty. Being that either way it'll count towards the GWRA ("Longest parade of same marque vehicles (Vauxhall)") I have now included you in the confirmed section

UPDATE: 29th March.

As some of you may have noticed, I have alphabetised the list (but dont worry, I have retained the sign-up order elsewhere  ) for ease of use for myself and, hopefully, you lot as well.
I have also been through my inbox and included everyone who has PM'd me.

To date we have 238 signees and 33 provisional confirmations.

Once the date is confirmed, I shall suggest, if it is possible, a membership wide PM or e-mail.

Thanks people.

This maybe a silly question but have we extended invitations to all at http://fronteratech.freeforums.org/index.php and to The Muddy Fronteras http://www.muddyfrontera.co.uk/ I might be on dodgy ground here because I don't know if the three sites work hand in glove or not but if it bulks up no's to become GWR Holders it can only be a good thing. This is open to ALL Frontera owners and those on Fronteratech and Muddy Fronteras should be aware of the attempt, especially as a few are already signed up!

EDIT: Have just been looking through the "other" sites and there seems to be a little animosity from some and some feel that the event isn't gonna take place, so not entirely sure support will come from those sources. This may change once venue and date are secured however.

It may have been asked, or i have missed a post on an update to the GWR attempt, so i was just wondering what the state of play is as we stand. how is it going on a venue, is it likely to be this year.

I know people are working very hard to make this happen, and putting something as big as this together must be a nightmare.

cheers.

"Ian

I understand from Nanette that you would like to break a record at Rockingham with 240 cars. I understand that you want it to be over 2 miles? Do you want it to be on the oval or infield? Also is 28th September your preferred date. Also do the cars have to be in single file or can they go out 2 or 3 abreast - if so this make it a more viable option of doing it in the lunch hour.

Thanks
Tania"

This was my reply

Quote
"Hi Tania, thanks for your speedy reply. From the rules and regs sent to me by GWR, the route has to be a minimum of 2 miles and unfortunately has to be single file with a car length between each vehicle. We dont mind if we do it on the oval, the infield or the carpark, we just want to raise as much money for our charities as possible with as many spectators as possible. I mentioned the 28th September because it was an event organised by Rockingham, it would give us more time to get more corporate sponsorship, and there is more chance of the weather being ok as we have members of our club coming from all over the country and parts of Europe, so we would like to make a weekend of it and camp at somewhere like Billing but we would be greatful of any weekend date you could offer

I understand that time would be tight for a lunchtime run but I can have everyone organised and ready to go at a minutes notice. All vehicles will be available for scrutineering if required and I have arranged independent witnesses and digital evidence gatherers.

Any assistance you can give in oure attempt to set the record would be fantastic. We just want to raise a considerable amount of cash for charity and to show the public that 4x4's are not just gas guzzling planet destroyers. Alot of our members are members of the national 4x4 response service, assisting the emergency services in times of crisis where normal vehicles are not practical, eg. during the recent floods, some of our members were called out to transport supplies to stricken members of the public.

I sincerely hope you can help us in our quest.

Ian"

Things are looking good me thinks :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
