Well we had a list of 12 cars...
1 notified me that he would be late (thus we met him after lunch). 1 notified me that his vehicle was broken (thus we didn't have to wait). This was NO PROBLEM at all, and was the correct way to do things! 3 didn't bother cancelling, didn't bother turning up, couldn't even give me a telephone call to say that they weren't coming. (Admittedly 1 extra also didn't turn up, but he had a reserved space and hadn't confirmed it either way. Eventually, that means that 4 people didn't bother). Everyone was given my number thanks to Rob for his help... While I don't ask for much, a little bit of courtesy goes a long way... If I had have known in advance that these people weren't coming the rest of us could have left Basingstoke 1 hour earlier (instead of waiting for these people), the rest of us could have then done at least another 3 or 4 lanes more than we did! BUT... I still had a top time, I enjoyed myself immensely and I don't particularly care, it just would've been nice to have got a phonecall or a text message from those saying that they couldn't make it, a reason wasn't even needed.... Ok, /rant over! On another note, some piccies are up now. www.4x4search.org - your 4x4 search engine. 100% human submitted and edited!
Rightio..
Now for the good bit. Thanks very much to Rob for his patience in testing lanes, his assistance with sending out PM's to everyone with my number, and also for his help with navigation and leading one group. Thanks very much to Wilberforce for his patience in testing lanes as well, his assistance with helping me out with many other facets of this endeavour such as picking up the portaloo and taking it to somewhere I could collect it in case I didn't leave work early enough... and also for taking the rubbish with him this afternoon.. and last but not least, for letting us ALL rib him for an entire weekend because he had the ONLY FRONTERA WITH NO BULLBAR!!!!!! Thank you very much to the Star Inn for their fantastic food, great service and beautiful warm fire!! Thank also to the landowner for the use of his field for our campsite and for his great P&P site. Thank you to the Wessex Hillrunners folks who turned up and gave loads of good advice and assistance as well!! Cheers to you all! # Lastly, there was a new shiny clean Black SWB Frontera at the site today who for some reason hadn't been invited by us, and he had never, ever, used his 4wd for it's intended purpose, and being the lovely folk we are I apologised for his not being invited because I didn't know him before and that he wasn't on this site... I then promptly sold him a FronteraOwners.co.uk STICKER and told him to join the forum.. SOOOOOOOOOOO on that note, I'm waiting for him to introduce himself with a big welcome and loads of pride in the fact that for a complete 4wding newbie he absolutely took to it like a fish to water! TOP JOB mate.. you did well.. and the scratches on the black paintwork looked lovely Si Last edited by rangaKoo on Sun Mar 18, 2007 7:02 pm, edited 1 time in total.

It's a good thing I have a sense of humour, eh?? Also that the board doesnae permit swearing, else there might be a choice word or two... Still for my two penn'orth... Thanks to Si for sorting out a top weekend of mud related stuffs... I'd commend him on the time spent testing lanes, except for the fact that I know he enjoyed that bit far too much for it to have been a chore, hehe... Jim...

.....and there was me thinking you'd gotten yoursel in a right pickle
Well we thought he was going to roll it, heheheh, the first time at least..
Then he seemed to get the hang of going down it backwards! www.4x4search.org - your 4x4 search engine. 100% human submitted and edited!
Naah mate...
Gotta play it reasonably safe, as the fronty is my only legal car currently... Mebbe i'll get a little runaround car, or even get the Cavi legal again, and then that way i can afford to take a little more risks with the fronty... Jim...

wish i'd thought of that when i went (sort of) through the corwen carwash
but hey .......you can't kill a 2.8
You can say that again Looking forward to the video footage, chaps
No mate, you did the right thing to be honest.
While I would have loveeeeed to have tried that in the big V8 matt black beastie though.. But it was a big climb.. and the only time I made it up was with probably a few mm coming off my clutch in order to do it! I won't be doing it again, but had to do it at least once. www.4x4search.org - your 4x4 search engine. 100% human submitted and edited!
Mebbe if i give her a lift to stop the grounding out... I suspect though that the shorties will always have the edge on climbs like that.
Ahh well, fun, nonetheless, and i would have loved a go in the pretender too, hehe... Jim...

excellant weekend! great to meet all you guys, and you were all called 'mate', made it so easy (-:. had a bit of battle damage to sort on the way home, i must have caught the plastic trim on the rear pillar. and yes, the tea bag is still on my bonnet.
thanks to every one for making me and matt feel welcome. http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q72/ ... a/Snorkle/
The more i learn about women......... The more i love my FRONTERA. http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q72/ ... la/fronty/
Big huge amazingly enormous thanks to you Si!!!
You earned them beers and then some! Big huge thanks to Wilber too for the loan of the CB rig, and showing us the way up etc Great weekend, fun, educational, fun, and a bit more fun Will definately be hoping to do that again... we're hooked! Dont think Ty will be coming to the meet after this weekend though... he wasnt terrible but bad enough, and i think the final straw was when bernie got stuck and he (aged 5) gasped and shouted 'ooh bolloc..' well i think you get the idea He quite enjoyed himself though, especially telling Wilberforce across the CB 'Oi! You need BULLBARS!'
