Thought I'd introduce myself given some of you lovely folk are already giving me some really useful advice!

So I've been more into modified Volkswagens over the past few years and had a low slung Bora until i smashed my sump on a bit of road where it had sunk.

Got a bit p!ssed off with the amount of speed bumps, crap surfaces and general state of roads and decided to look for a 4x4.

Always loved the shape of the Sports so started looking for one.

£500 later with t&t picked up an s reg with 64k on the clock, lots of old MOTs and what looked like a bargain.

Drove the car home, done about 6 miles and bang, cloud of smoke and that was that.

Towed home and now on the search for a new engine as it looks like, through the help of some very useful forum members, the timing has gone and FUBAR'd the engine!!

Will post some pics of the beast when I get chance and will keep you updated with what happens!

also, any north westers/lancastrians know any places to go greenlaning/offroading coz i dont just want to use it on the tarmac!!!!

Hi & welcome. You will enjoy the truck, once it's fixed! Up until the engine went pop it sounds like yougot a good purchase.

Ha! thats what i thought. Bit of bubbling on the front of the bonnet, bit of rust on the rear bumper and thats about it.

Really annoying that the engine sounded sweet when i went to look at it!!! Ha!

Without straying too far from topic and restricting any techy talk for the appropriate pages, has much damage been done to the engine?

No lanes in the North West Lancashire area to speak of except Georges Lane up at Rivington.
