Just a quick hello, and Merry Christmas from France.

Just bought a 2001 Frontera 2.2 dti Limited, for a crazy low price, test drive showed up several 'common' Fronty maladies.
Drove her home, two hours, so nothing terminal, and straight into barn.

Removed EGR and cleaned, hole where EGR sits de-blocked, as it was totally solid!, tested for vacuum, de-gunged swirls etc.
New Opel supplied leak off tube and tee's, new silicone vacuum tube all round, including to axle.

Now just the Dreaded bleeding to do!, I'm just unsure which of the outlets, left or right from the filter, is the RETURN?
I've got the Laser priming tool, just unsure where to stick it!, answers on a.......

Anyway, all knowledge gained prior to purchase, thanks to this forum!

Thanks BoxCleva, that should take the guesswork out of it!

When I bought it, it started no problem, but I noticed weeping from the leak off pipes. They were VERY brittle, and went to pieces upon removal, leaving the customary half inch attached at the injectors!. Of course I then realised I'd introduced air into the system, and proved it to myself, after cranking for just a couple of seconds, so haven't turned her over until I know what I'm doing!,
Thought it would be wise to do the other jobs whilst off the road. Also found a mummified mouse living in the airbox, along with two kilos of 'bedding'!, needless to say, Henry was called into action and a new filter has been installed.

I didn't expect a reply so soon on Christmas Eve!, so thank you very much indeed. and all the best for the New Year, I'm sure I'll sleep better tonight being better informed, as my darling wife couldn't understand why the lovely 'new' Frontera was working, and now isn't!!!!!

Glad I'm not the only one on a car forum on Christmas eve!, If you'd seen French telly, this is a much more entertaining option

you will find they are a great bunch on here and they are very helpful on here and sometimes its a right laugh too

Yeah, I got that impression from doing my 'homework' before buying,

I used to have a Calibra red top, and the Net was a mystery to me back then

would have been useful, as I only had the Haynes manual, which had some nice pictures but......

I had an old shaped polo many years ago, I needed to kill it to get a new car but the thing went forever, I got 20k out of it from when I decided it should die to when it actually died. It always had an oil light on :lol:

Rust was killing it but that 1.0L engine was unbelievable in the abuse it took and the mileage it did :shock:

abuse, just keeps on ticking!
