Yes I`m the newbie today !!

A little about me -

Use to build Fronteras at the Luton plant - worked there for 8 years
Also worked for Peguform Plastics (built the Frontera Gen B Bumpers there)
Worked for Rover for a few years as a general mechanic.
Have also worked in telesales, marketing and retail.
Worked as an IT Manager for 5 years including web management.

Recently bought `Sarge` a silver 2.3D for £500 .. needed a bit of TLC but is back on the road again !!

Have now got the Frontera bug back again .. have been offered reasonably priced workshop/storage unit and have several `braking` fronteras in my sights.

Am now looking to start business selling purely Frontera Spares and rebuilding Fronteras to sell complete.

My questions to you all are .... is this a good idea ? Will anyone be interested in my services ? Would you be willing to buy reconditioned spares and reasonable price ?

Would appreciate feedback.

Damn good idea, parts for frontys are getting hard to find and i for one would use your services. Weather it will be raging success without sounding rude largely depends on your capability to run/promote a business and to obtain stock at the right price and in ways that most others have not thought of and in a way that generates not only turn over but profit.

For your first month i would offer a free fitting service on all parts purchased over a value of £80 to all FOG members to get ppl though your door and an easy promo?????

I personally think its a great idea,and yes I would and have brought recondition parts

Please don't take this the wrong way ok I don't mean it to be offensive and for you to get upset ok in any way..

But Recently I brought a part from a new member and sent the money in good faith , and expecting the part sent to me, but it never arrived nor have I seen him on line since :cry:

( my fault btw as I brought in haste and didn't do my homework :wink:

) In the end I got telephone number for the part I was looking for and this was a reconditioned Alternator for my Fronty and that arrived..
I am not saying I wouldn't buy again but if you don't mind I will watch this space with interest..

Sorry just being honest here...

I really hope this business adventure comes off for you :dance:

Good time to start as more and more people are looking at Fronteras mainly for their user friendliness and comfort and so they are getting hard to find.
My Irish neighbour (yes I know it's the middle of France but he's my neighbour & he's Irish and his wife is Scots.) has a Freelander with it's bum on the ground and a Range Rover sport that starts and dies.
He was asking how much I thought a decent French Frontera would cost. :party:

Am Getting lots of warm feelings about this project .. just been offered 3 braking frontys from a local breakers .. its seems they cannot shift the parts ..... but they now know a man that can :wink:

Do what antique dealers do.
Find your customers and then supply the vehicle they want.
Don't go rushing out buying Fronteras and then have nowhere to put them.
If the Scrappie has them cool. They'll start passing on the saveable ones as they know you'll buy the spares.
Don't get into the "storing road vehicles" thing.
Go for a network thing where you can find the part when needed but don't have to buy it in advance and have it, costing money, lying around the yard.
All you really need to stock is a few refurbishment kits to start with and let the local scrap world know that you are a serious customer.
One of the Shepherdesses long time friends has spent the last 25 Years doing just that with Landies way up in the Highlands of Scotland.
Now:- If you are retired and it is your hobby then the sky is the limit as you can discount bits bought and travel to shows and weekenders and special gear against any profit from selling the vehicle on.
So you can own a fronty and do it up and sell it as long as it is part of an ongoing collection. :wink:

excelent a one stop shop fore spares without the ball ache of ringing round thats what we all need winters coming we need the bits this site has lots of members so theres money to be had if you treat us right lol

The other area that you could look into perhaps, may be doing modifications suspension lifts, body lifts, etc. just another string to your bowe

Take a look on french ebay to see how much they go for :shock:

We almost throw them away in this country so as I am close to france i did wonder about buying them here and selling them on in france.The only catch being the left hand drive problem and ive not looked into export import taxes of anything like that. There is a guy on ebay doing frontera parts( paw 4by 4 or first frontera), I've not bought anything from him. The parts I have replaced have been oil, air,oil and diesel filters,two near side front wheel bearings, a clutch master cylinder, a swing arm, a back door,a headlight, a mirror, a radiator, and i will need a wing and bonnet, thats over 3 and a half yrs to give you an idea of what i have bought. I would like a set of steel 15 inch wheels and maybe a set of off road tyres. I have found that the scrapyard I go to has the parts cheaper than anybody else so tend to go there but have had the best deals from fog members.
Keep us posted, what experience you have had with fronteras! do you know if they were designed by one person or a team?
Sorry to read of Roo's bad experience with a fog member, thats not good.

Hi mate and welcome to FOG, what a good idea you have there, as a lot have said before parts are getting a bit scarce!!!!!!!

Any1 know any1 thats after a 7 seater ??? Am raising funds for my new enterprise and have a bargain.

7 Seater 2.4 Petrol Chrysler Voyager 07 plate only 19,000 miles in superb condition ... only £7,995 !!

This is a great idea, I buy loads of fronty's needing a little TLC to sell on. Spares sure are hard to find sometimes. So all in a great idea.... Good luck with your new project!!
