Another newbie!

Hi everyone I've just found this site & thought I would send a post.
I haven't got a Frontera yet as I have to sell my other car first ( Alfa 155 Silverstone if your interested £1200).
I've been looking at different models & think I want a LWB but not sure weather to go for petrol or diesel, I've got hopfully £1000 - £1500 to spend.
What are the major problems to look out for? They seem to have a bit of tin worm on some cars & I have heard about a few engine problems ie head gaskets & diesel pumps
Any advice would be usefull.

Hi and welcome Robin its a great site and lots of info thier is always someone who knows or can find out. Asfor petrol or diesel i have both the 2.5 td trasglobe LWB(the Growler) and my 2 ltr petrol SWB(the Tonka)play toy and i love em both.all depends on what your going to do with it?. LWB i use as a family car everyday use the SWB i use for off roading and greenlaning.but look at some of the posts and you will find different people like different thing and the final choice will come down to you not much but i hope that helps

Best advise I can give you is to look around the forum and test as many frontera's as possible, if you can get a local member to come along with you, when you have worked out which model you like/want.

some of these 4wd's have be, lets say, abused. So expect a few dinks and donks to the body work and a few rattles from the motor. You'll have seen what some of the members here have done whilst greenlaning.

Luckily for you, you've found FOG so that's going to cut your garage bills down a bit.

2.4 lwb and love it.Wish i would of got the diesel for better fuel economy though.

Hi Robin welcome to the forum, as for choice its all your's. As bin said before depends what your planing to do with it. Some of us are nuts and modify them for offroading in the best sence of the word, others use them as family cars as there so versatile. So take your Pick!!!!!!!

I've got a 2.0i Sport 1995 and its fab! Fuel consumption better than I expected, its comfy, warm and easy to work on - even for a ham fisted spanner monkey like me! :roll:

I joined at the beginning of the month after I bought my weekend toy and have chatted to some great people and personalities on here - and I'm off out on my 1st Frontera do this coming Sunday with Gregster and the SE possee to get my wheels dirty - as they should be!

Theres loads of advice and technical bits as well as, have a dig around, if you get stuck, just ask, someone - somewhere will know the answer.
