I've just purchased a 1995 2.0 sport for a weekend toy, and thought I'd join a forum. I used to have a Landrover series 3 88 inch truck cab which had a fearsome appetite for half shafts, and oil despite not being off-roaded that hard (weekend use only for clay pigeons and occasional rough shoots) and the comfort was nowhere near the frontera - which is warmer as well as the heater actually works, and after 1 day 'playing' on sunday, as capable as the old landy!
I've been looking for one for quite a while and a little gem appeared on EBAY for £600 (1 lady owner for the last 9 years) with Tax until end October and MOT until end August 2010.
The engine was replaced last year (receipted), the gearbox / clutch were replaced in Feb this year (again receipted), its got 9 years of service history and is suprisigly clean with no rust (slight bubbling on front bonnet edge and the Bull bars look like they would appreciate a dab of hammerite but apart from that, its tip top!.
Ive dropped the car into my local friendly Main dealers (VX) where a friend works as a service manager (handy for parts and use of ramps at the weekend - for a couple of pints!!) and its been given a clean bill of health.
Is there anything I should watch out for with this model? I've seen a couple of posts about cracked bulkheads etc
