Be gentle its my first time!!

Have just bought my first Frontera, 2.3tdi, 1993 as we needed something to carry our nine dogs its a bit of a squeeze in my wife`s celica and the smell is something else! I saw the Frontera at the side of the road with a for sale sign on it and gave it a try, must admit I was well impressed on the test drive so put hand in pocket (not very far I admit) and did a deal since then I have been well pleased with the machine. mind you shows what a fool I am, its my first ever diesel (after 40 yrs of drivin!!) and I wait until diesel is more expensive than petrol!! Anyway now the sucking up,,,,,what a great web site...plenty of info and reading the forums has certainly put my mind at rest over oil pressure as I`ve just changed oil and filter (used 10/40 as suggested in topic), found lead off pressure switch and fitted securely (as suggested) and panicked when I saw oil light flickering on tick over when hot....still not too happy about it but I`ll get used to it now I know it seems to be normal....many thanks to all involved and believe me I will return!!

Hi, have you checked the oil pump gears?
This is important!
Worn gears slip at low speed.
