Hi to all site members. My name is bill and I have just got my first ever Frontera (2.0 Sport 1996) 36000 genuine miles in a lovely pearl yellow colour!
Never owned a 4x4 before or done any off road work. I welcome any sensible advise or help.
Got a couple of questions for ye all! I believe it would be a good idea to get the timing belt changed, shes been stood for a long time. I am paranoid it is going to snap, but I have heard a few comments that if it did, it would not cause engine damage! Is that true, and if so why not?

The belt will need changing
The recommended interval is 4 years or 36000 miles which ever occurs first

Welcome to FOG.

I think the engine you are referring to is the diesel engine that has a 'built in timing chain', not a rubber belt.
