Finding Fords.

in the dark times of my Early Frontera days I found
http://www.wetroads.co.uk after months of playing locally I discovered they had a forum .. so I joined it!
I got chatting to a guy named HL3 and He was a laugh then a lunatic called MuddyCarl started chatting to me .... the rest is history!!

now when we do the Next one, Lee who owns Wetroads is going to be sat in my Fronty

Couldn't get out there to have a look last night. But I don't think the BMW would've done too well there anyway.

Wouldn't mind trying it but in a petrol Fronty I wouldn't dare.. deepest ford I've been through was only lapping at the doors, or a little higher (was too busy driving to notice to be honest).

it's only the price of an engine.....!

If anyone’s ever in Lincolnshire I can recommend this ford at Little Cawthorpe.
Just remember as this review says, don’t cross it turn left and drive up it .
Check the depth at each end first, as it can be misleading one end is a lot shallower than the other.

'A fascinating ford ensemble, in theory two fords but really just one. As Image 1 shows the ford at first glance looks like a short shallow crossing. However, what isn't instantly apparent is that you can turn upstream and follow the river bed for at least 300 feet! 'It starts shallow, but gets deeper near the end as the bottom changes from gravel to sand.

Always Advisable to walk Little Cawthorpe first before Driving it ..
Some big Branches always seem to "Appear" under the water and they have claimed some LR Brake Pipes before!!!

I've just realised.... I know the headly ford, hehe... Took it twice in a day a few years back in an old new-style transit (the one they've only just replaced). Working for white arrow at the time, learning my trade as a professional ~~~~~.

Only one problem with the water - I got a teensy bit carried away on the return trip, and filled the horn up with water... Most embarrassing when i got back to our depot, tried to beep the horn so security would open the gate, and all i heard was a pathetic bubbling sound... :oops:
