Re: Beginners Green Lane Trip – Saturday 25th October 2008Thanks for the reminder Dave
A decision regarding the river crossing will be made on the morning. If it it deemed safe to cross, an alternative route is available to those not wishing to do so. Lawrence

Re: Beginners Green Lane Trip – Saturday 25th October 2008I've reviewed the route this morning, in the process of compiling a route book for Drift (we have different sat nave systems) and have come up with some mileages.
The total route, from Corwen to Chirk is about 36 miles. There are no fuel stations along the route, so please ensure you have enough fuel before you arrive in Corwen. Of those 36 miles, approximately 14 miles will be on unsurfaced rights of way (green lanes), with approximately 22 miles being on tarmac surfaced roads, although the majority will be "yellows" or "whites" (a reference to their indicative colour on the 1:50,000 Ordnance Survey maps) Believe it or not, those 36 mile will take us most of the day, starting at 10:00 and finishing at about 18:00. For instance, it will take us about 1½ hours to drive the 5 mile Wayfarer, add to that stops for photos and of course a coffee break and the time soon starts to fly by. Toilets: Public toilets are available at the start location and after the first lane at about 12:30_13:30ish. The finish location is a pub car park where toilets are also available. Lunch: As suggested bring a packed lunch as it will be difficult to fit 8 vehicles into a rural pub car park. I would propose we take our lunch break on the third lane, were there is sufficient parking space and room for the kids to run around [Ste; in the woods over the cattle grid]. That's all I can think of for the moment... Lawrence

Re: Beginners Green Lane Trip – Saturday 25th October 2008Hi Lawrence,
sorry it's late in the day but i have had word from Bobby that it is too short notice for him so he will have to pass on this one, i guess it means that there is still a place for one lucky reader... Cheers Dan I am nobody......Nobody is perfect.....Therefore, I must be perfect!
