Re: Beginners and experienced Greenlanes Longmynd 28th JuneCheer Drift, hadnt planned on that one, was going to do wayfairer then into the village, over the bridge, up the hill and onto the one with the side slopes and down the slate hill with the water running over (we did it reverse order in March). Then down the gated road onto the A5 and back to Lllangollen.

Re: Beginners and experienced Greenlanes Longmynd 28th JuneI'm sticking my nose in here, whilst wearing my GLASS hat.
I hope you are all aware of the hard work that GLASS, GRAG and the TRF do to keep these unsurfaced rights of way open for us and other recreational 4x4 users, as such members are obliged to adhere to a Code Of Conduct, and specifically I refer to group size (no more than 4). Through this thread I have seen a list of 16 names and am only aware of 2 leaders, so that with my maths equates to two groups of 8. I can't stop you running any group of over 4 vehicles, but I would like you all to consider the consequences. Any group of same vehicles is going to attract attention, and I'm sure some of the group will have URL stickers on their windows, associating your driving with FOG. I sincerely hope we do not get to read on other forums about FOG running large groups and the subsequent pad publicity, not only to us, but 4x4 owners as well. Also, "wild" camping, as far as I know, is not permitted in England and Wales (it is in Scotland - I've resarched it), so a camp site or B&B would be your best bet for an overnight stop) Laning at night and the use of roof lights (which are intended for off-road use only). Green Lanes (ORPA's and BOAT's) are roads, subject to the highway code and other driving related laws and theoretically, you should not use roof lights. I know, I know, but I just thought I'd mention it. I'm sure everyone who is going is going to have a great time, just as long as other countryside users and residents along your route have a peaceful time as well. Re: Beginners and experienced Greenlanes Longmynd 28th JuneAs far as I know, there will be one novice group and 2 groups for the more experienced. Although the numbers are still a little more than the recommended, I truly believe that the group, as usual, will drive in an courteous and sensible manner whilst out laning and certainly not bring FOG into any form of disrepute.

Re: Beginners and experienced Greenlanes Longmynd 28th JuneI totally agree with Trugga on this in all respects, but at a push I would go 5 in a group but only in a circumstance where the whole day consisted of 5 cars.
Though none of this is enforceable, it could save our lanes for our kids to drive and enjoy. Remember they are out there watching and we need to play the game better than them Ste

Re: Beginners and experienced Greenlanes Longmynd 28th JuneErm maths, suposedly one of my strong points
As mentioned above, 3 groups, yes we were 6 strong on the novice group till we had a drop out, but thought the 6 strong was ok. As ive mentioned all along we will do our best to be the best behaved groups about that weekend regarding locals and the night time event. As also mentioned in the posts, to reduce the traffic at any given point the 2 experienced groups will set off in different directions giving approx 3 hours gap between cars going over any given point. As mentioned also, we will be self policing roof lights to ensure we dim around houses later on. Really folkes, having been posting here for a month on this it would have been nice to have mods input from the start rather than pick faults after a month of discussion. edit, re-Fog association with this event, This is not posted as a FOG outing, mo mods are actually coming, we will not be broadcasting ourselves as FOG, there will be discoveries among us and doing some leading. I dont believe any members on the trip are Glass/Crag or TRF, I will be removing my FOG stickers. Fronty no.4, pimp mobile Treg 3.2 LWB lifted 2.5"

3 groups of 5 but it will end up with less as people dont get cars fixed for when they want.
Re: Beginners and experienced Greenlanes Longmynd 28th JuneIve never been to a meet without cancelations, as I mentioned to someone earlier we may well need 2 groups to make the numbers up
