4wd can anyone clarify for me?

Hi. all. I have been reading the vauxhall drivers manual and was just wondering if anyone can tell me if 4wd has been selected when stuck in snow, could i then go back into 2wd and continue my journey with the automatic hubs locked or would i need to reverse every time i have used 4wd? Any advice as always would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes you can but i wouldn't advise it for long distances, i know others leave them locked in when green laning but i do back up and unlock them 
i tend to find even with it back in 2wd i get some wind up in the transfer box.

As above. Mine was 2wd and locked (manual hubs) I got some real unpleasant noises and some drag.
Fronty no.4, pimp mobile Treg 3.2 LWB lifted 2.5"

Ive drove 130 miles at motorway speed with autos and later when I fitted manuals with no problems at all..I keep forgetting to unlock them 
They will cause a bit of drag and possibly use a tad more fuel but shouldnt affect the drive train as no power is going through the drive shafts or prop, just the drive shafts free wheeling in with the hub

Always unlocked mine at the end of each section when out laning, hope this helps.

You can have the hubs locked full time all the time, no probs.
The front axel, just like the rear has a differentialential.
The role of the diff is to allow the wheels to rotate at different speeds.
The frontera, not having a centre differential between the front and real axel
means that 4WD should only be used when the ground is louse or slippery .
This allows the wheels to slip, allowing for the different speeds of front and rear wheel rotation, (cornering and tread depth etc)
