is it legal to drive

hi think this is the right place to post this if not sorry. right i trying to find out id a lane by me in burntwood, staffordshire is legal to drive. its called Woodhouses lane and falls under the WS7 post code. it runs between woodhouses road and farewell lane i can give gps courdanates if any help.

Sorry mate, If your on about the old open cast roads they are not. Plenty of traffic on them and the police arent interested in the poachers roaming with rifles picking the deer off either. Can hear the shots from my house, keep finding dead deer in big sacks by the bridge ready to go.

yea seen them the other day just walking down the road to there car with guns and cammos. not got an os ref but if you type in in on google maps woodhouses lane is that any help

Using my os its approx, 1degree 57.5 East/west 52degrees 41.5 North. How that gets put into propper terminology is beyond me.

OK, bit of map work found nothing legal to drive for SK076088

It has a road name, but is not on the LOS, nor is it a BOAT or ORPA.

S dont drive it, however it dos have a foot path status

Considering the area we live I dont think thers anything near us. the route is very good condition as the quarry laid it as they landscaped, but definately illegal.

besides, the traffic kind of negates the laning experience.

From what I can make out, woodhouses lane is a Bridleway (ie, not motorised vehicles), however, the lane coming in from the north known as Jones' Lane, is an ORPA and is therefore theoretically legal to drive, subject to the local council.

I can't find any entry in the GLASS Wayfinder Project for it.

If you want to drive it, check first with your local council, asking to speak with the Rights Of Way Officer (or some similar such title)

I must say, the Rights of Way officer for Hertfordshire County Council was so helpful, and he is into his green laning, after he had given me the goahead on the lanes I was enquiring about, he told me about a few more i hadn't noticed. It's just unfortunate that the old Roman road (Icknield Way) has been downgraded now and gated cos it is beautiful and miles long
