4x4 Fun Day - Video on DVD

Postby Trugga on Sun Sep 03, 2006 3:59 pm

As some of you have commented, I appear to be getting better at using my video camera and getting some reasonable results, some of which have been authored to DVD (ask "Driftwood")

I will of course be brnging the handicam to Aston Cantlow and was wondering if anyone would like to purchase at near enough cost, a DVD of our day out.

I'm thinking along the lines of a general compilation and then other sections just featuring each vehicle. The DVD would be -R which should play in most domestic TV DVD players, and will be supplied in a case.

I have an idea of a cost price, but would like to use this opportunity to include a donation towards the the running of this site - what sort of price would you pay for a DVD of your day out ?

I don't intend to make any profit out of this, just cover my costs

Thats a fantastic idea.
And I can confirm the DVD Lawrence did for me and the crew on one of our days out was fantastic and had some nice solo's of indivudual vehicals.
There where even credits at the end with cars and drivers matched up.

Oh and one copy of that DVD has found its way to South Caroliner USA , (long story)

I think 15% donation to the club or minimum £2 donation :)
Just a thought, to band numbers about.

Good idea Steve - yes, if anyone wants to donate any video footage to the bigger picture (so to speak), then yes, why not.

Cost wise, I'm guessing a blank -R DVD disk is 50p, a case is about 50p but postage will be nearer £2 - so I should be able to get a DVD in the post for £3. The hidden costs are my time, electricity, envelopes, paper and ink - I'll cover those and call it my donation.

How about a price of £6 (inc postage and packaging), with £3 being a donation to the running of this site. If 10 of you buy a copy, the site gets £30

Does that sound reasonable?

I'll create some sort of form for you to fill in on the day, that includes your name and postal address and vehicle details - I would ask for payment up front and then Pete can drive home with the donation. It will probably take me 1-2 weeks before the DVD's get posted out. I daresay "interesting" snippets will find themselves onto the www during the process.

Damn, count me in!
I'll send what footage I get including Carl getting Stuck First!
£6 is probably too reasonable! especially when you can look at £15 for a Decent 4x4 Vid.

Lawrence,
How about opening it up in like a Meet Merchandise Section?
so the "Unfortunates" who can't be with us on the Day (& night before if any footage appears from there) can see us all in action and some of the Newer 4x4 Drivers might even gain some experience/Knowledge from it

I know you can pay between £10-20 for an event vid, but I appreciate that it could be a costly weekend; fuel, camp site fee, entry fee, burger bar, beer on Saturday night...

It would not be right for me to make any profit - I'm not a proffesional, allthough I have been pleased with my results do far.

Maybe we could offer it for sale in the Mechandise section - depends on how it works out - good idea though.

i was going to get sum fog stuff for the meet like maby a hat or even a fleece, just a way of identifying us fog members on the day.... apart from us all having fronties that is.

Others on the P&P site will know who we are then as well.
