I would love to agree with you but in all honesty I can't.
Drinks did his best to get something going and got left high and dry. All he got was vague promises.
Can you imagine what it feels like to try to organise something, have lots of people waffle on about what they want, and when it comes down to it NOBODY turns up.

Drinks don't worry.
Next time I'll get the Transit crew to turn up. A drive like that no bother.
Next time I get a chance to get to Fife I'll give you a bell and we can try out that full on site.

Domino's right, there's no need to post crap like that.

I just got home and logged in to apologise for not making it and explain why but after reading that I will say sorry but I'm not going to bother explaining. I'm sure others have perfectly valid reasons also for not making the meet.

Once you come down off that extremely high, hoity-toity horse you're straddling you can digest the following.

I OWN and RUN a similar club website myself. I've built it up from scratch. The first 6 months were bad for meets but we carried on in spite and have eventually ended up with an excellent group of people who meet up on a monthly basis, having a bit of banter and discussing the cars. Drinksoptional (Stuart) happens to be a member and attends every meet. We get on incredibly well and whilst we're not best mates, I'd consider him a friend having met through that club. I've worked my arse off to get it where it is now so I am well aware, SIR, how much effort it takes to make things work and how much of a blow it is when things don't go to plan, if at all.

While you're all high and mighty and available to attend every meet, of every car/vehicle forum you're a part of, some of us have more urgent and pressing matters to deal with that will take precedence over such meets. Just as a small example here, I've been dealing with burying my mother, sorting out the finances of her estate and appointing an appropriate executor. Perhaps in your world that isn't important but over here, where people are normal, it's quite a big deal. I know of at least 1 other member who has some form of personal turmoil that's taking over. They'd no doubt have loved to attend but simply couldn't.

The last thing I, or anyone else in the region, needs is you coming along telling everyone we're "WIMPS" and are making no effort. All you've accomplished here is to show everyone how much of an ignoramus you really are and I for one hope we don't meet - I can't abide people like you in any shape or form. I would ask you to stay the hell way from any meets because with an attitude like yours you wouldn't be welcome.

The meet was a success in its own right - Stuart attended and had a good time. The next time, there will be more attendees and it'll grow organically from that.

I'm really, really angry and bleep off right now. How dare you! You've totally got my back up and I'm massively disgusted. You're just pathetic. More-so, you've made the Group look bad.

Just on a side note to the above some people don't realise the scope of scotland 1 person might be in glasgow another in dundee or inverness both covered for a scot meet but 4-5 hours drive apart so in midst of present financial restrictions it might not be viable fo people to travel that distance for a chat and drive as much as they would like to.The turnout shouldn't be held against the scots members they just arne't as densely populated as us midlanders or gregsters group and it just isn't practical for some to travel that distance and time

just my opinion

Here the thing those who said they could an those that said they couldnt big difference. I asked for those who wished to attend to put thier names down well in advance an some did an some didnt add there name but said they could, towards the date i could see little names some let us know they could not attend for reasons which is fine it happens life changes its not compulsery some didnt . Scottish members are spaced out an some are not if it is family then well there little contact
The idea of the meets is not just about socialising or for the forum its for each other aswell its is nice to meet new people get out the house and do something. Frontera`s breakdown an having a local network is handy rather than a username on a forum. I use and attend same forum as martin aka domino an we have struck a freindship despite him been from edinburgh  an yes the meets are a bit intimadating at first especialy first time as the people are all different an you would proberly not speak to them in normal life but these forums break down those barriers an i watch people sharing advice, stories and numbers i watch people meeting each other to help fix their cars through getting to know each other at meets on the forum someone said "every acorn etc" The forum domino run has a big list of name`s for meets that start`s to die near the date then people have to pullout for reasons.
The location well it was chosen as it was suppose to be central to every one i never chose it i suggested as it looked better than a carpark in macdonalds an was on the 4x4 format you could do it in a car as its gravel it was a liesure drive, no one said oh its too far yeah i was disappointed on friday as i could see no input from any one, an after the meet there is more response to frenchfarmers comments than there was to my "put your name down " can you confirm your gonna attend?.
It was the first meet an well i tried so the next one i hope more people will show. i have never done or organised a meet before an i saw my mistakes but hey its how you learn. Now stop ranting save your energy for the next meet

You don't need to make up any excuses for yourself, the organisation or the meet at all.
