Any Heard Of...

...The Oxford Edition!?

Climbing through a scrap yard the other day i came across an old Frontera Sport with nothing left other than the body and some nasty looking chairs.
I noticed it had an "Oxford Edition" badge on it. I tried looking it up on Google with no luck so I'm unsure if its actually something or just a badge that someone has thrown on...

Any ideas?

Wikipedia mention such limited edition cars circa 1990-1991 being US marketed Rover Sterling (800's)

see: Sterling (Cars).

The badge may have originated from one of them - it certainly fits the Austin / Sterling writing style.

My guess would be that way, unless a Vauxhall dealer in Oxfordshire was trying to copy a sales tactic used by the blue oval manfacturer back in the late '80's where some base model cars were given a coloured go-faster stripe and a limited edtion classification eg "XRL", "XRC", to have buyers get into the XR series aspiration. Where XR3, XR2, XR4 were designated manufacturers models, the "XRL"s etc acquired the final letter from the dealerships initial letter.

When I was looking around the body i took it off I could tell that it was a 2.0 petrol. So couldn't really tell of anything exclusive to this kind of Frontera, other than the awful interior that was left behind! Was definitely not a Frontera interior!
Maybe the salesmen as you mentioned changed the interior also too try and get a sale?

Maybe. It certainly sounds like you may have a one-off limited edition, unique to the motoring world :)
