Roof bars

Are there 2 sizes of roof bars. The ones on my swb RS go from the rear of the roof to just above the front doors. Another fronty I looked at they finish a lot shorter at the front where this a long plastic cover about a foot long but there are no bolt holes.

IIRC, the A series had shorter roof rails on the SWB. It certainly had shorter rails on the LWB
