About a month ago I purchased smart FourTwo for not much money as it was burning oil and leaving a smoke trail like a red arrow on show day. In the last few weekends I have been busy removing/rebuilding and finally today after many hours started up for the first time an all appears to be good.
It's a 0.6 Ltr 3 cylinder turbo'd engine that is not bad at all to drive ( I did almost 300 miles in it before it finally died before repairs) and got about 41mpg! This should be more like 55mpg now using all 3 cylinders.
My question is, I am thinking of.getting another one as a project and trying to fit a larger engine for fun. I have seen videos of people that have used heyabusa or GSXR engines where there is loads of power, but torque is very low.
I would be looking to fit a car engine ( suggestions please ) so that I can make a "sleeper" something that's looks standard smart but goes like stink.
Probably need to be transverse engine.. But I'm open to suggestions. VX or M-B would be preferable as I have those diags tools.
