60 mph Shakey ride

My 2003 frontera 2.2 DTI shakes badly Above 60 mph, any thoughts to why this is?

Tyres out of balance, or wheels full of mud??? I would check these first, along with that the wheel nuts are tight...

Does it come up through the steering wheel?

Yeah it vibrates through the steering wheel, We've checked all the tires, swapped them all around, had it up on the lift and driven it to 60mph in rear wheel drive only and it still starts to shake at 60mph+. It drives very well all the way up to 60mph. Have you got an idea as to what it might be?

Wheel Bearing?

Stuck Caliper?

Completely knackered track rod ends?

Ball Joints?

Right plenty of things to check there! Frustrating as she drives brilliantly up to 60mph, Once we identify the problem and rectify it she will be a pleasure to own! I will report back.

This will be interesting to see what the problem is, as my dti does the same just now.

Rear propshaft UJ would be my guess.

The propshaft may be out of balance. Check that there is any evidence of a weight being thrown loose. You will see the area where it was very easily.
If it has a centre bearing, make sire it has no play, and the bush holding it to the vehicle isn't worn.
Is the rear gearbox mounting worn? See if you can lift the box at the rear by hand. If so, replace the mounting.

I know things that it isn't on my dti and that is, brake calipers, discs, bottom ball joints and track rod ends as these were all replaced with new ones last year. My brother reckons on mine could be a wheel bearing on the front and he is going to look at it for me at the weekend hopefully.

Never did get to the bottom of the vibration, I returned the car to the dealer and have since bought another one! (Not from them!)
