Cooling fan(s)

Postby caesium on Fri Jun 05, 2015 8:54 am

There appear to be two fans on my B, one of which I assume is for the A/C and the other for the engine coolant.

As I have disconnected the AC, I was considering connecting both fans together to additional cooling at low speeds.

Has anyone done this?

Do't touch the fans!!

Yes there are 2 and both are for engine cooling. When the engine warms up enough then both fans will be switched on to into a "LOW" running mode. If the engine continues to heat then they will be switched into HIGH mode to cool the engine down. This is all controlled by the ECU.

The 2.2i cooling is a very fine balance between working and NOT.

Unless you are going to add another radiator dont mess with the fans
