I'm not even a "newbie" yet...

I'm not even a "newbie" yet...

I'm looking to buy my better half a new (used) truck. Her current Pajero is just about on it's last legs...

..a swb or lwb would suit.

We've fancied a Fronty for quite some time, her 50th is coming up and I'm happy to buy her one.

Are there any variants to avoid?

Age isn't too important, neither is mpg. But I couldn't cope with a catastrophic fuel pump failure and I have heard a few stories about that...

What would you guys recommend?

Thanks in advance

There's pro's and cons to all the variants, B series is more refined/comfortable with the 2.2 being popular but the pumps can die especially if run dry and your looking around £600-£1000 give or take. The Petrol 3.2 is a powerful lump and combined with LPG returns respectable MPG (for a large 4x4).

On the a series variants 2.0/2.2/2.4 petrol, 2.3/2.5/2.8 diesels . I only have experience with the 2.5 and 2.8 and both are powerful and good for towing etc.

I'm selling my 2.5 and if it's something you think you'd be interested in let me know.

So is it just the 2.2 that has the dodgy pump? Or all diesels.

Is there any warning sign of failure?

Are there any photos and spec of yours?

Thx...

Only the 2.2dti's like most modern diesels....the "Old skool" ones are pretty robust

Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again...
She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body...
Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer!

If your not to botherd about mpg then the 3.2V6 LWB is your baby! You may possibly drop on a SWB version but there quite rare. They do go quite well!!!!!!! :D
