b series keys

When I bought my frontera there was 2 keys 1 flip out one and 1 ordinary one. The flip out 1 works the alarm and central locking and starts the engine. The other doesn't work the alarm or central locking but opens the doors manually and will start the engine. Can anyone tell me how I can get the second one to work fully. Thanks.

in short no darren, you have to use a remote fob to disarm the alarm :roll:

They both have fobs on but only the one fob works

If the key blade opens the door and will start the car then the key blade and immobiliser chip is ok. Your problem is with either the remote fob ( dead battery or broken circuit board ) or just needs re-adding to the car with op-com or similar as you have the DTi.

Is there a red light on the fob when you press the button? ( some fobs don't have red lights! ).

May be worth putting in a new battery and making sure the battery holder has not broken away from the main board. If that's good then an op-com should fix things for you. You will also need your security code if reprogramming is required.

Yes the key opens the doors and starts the motor. The red li g t works also but doesn't operate the alarm and central locking.

have you tried resyncing? get in car close all doors turn key to position2 and press the lock button on the fob, doors should lock then unlock.
