rougher ride

Hi all, hope this is ok to post in this section.
Have noticed that recently the ride on my 2.5 seems rougher. My son observed the other day that it seemed less comfortable.
Just wondered if there are things I can check to see if they are worn.

Few things

1) Make sure don't have a flat tyre
2) make sure you haven't over inflated your tyres
3) make sure the front suspension hasn't sagged to the point of riding on the bump stops
4) check the shocks, if one has leaked all its oil out it might be seizing up
5) check all your rubber bushes one or more might have perished so you are metal on metal

I did check things.The tyre pressures are fine, no sign of any oil leaks from the shock absorbers. I looked at the rear springs and the gap between the rubber stops and the underside of the chassis, and its about a two inch gap. This didn't seem much to me, so I looked at my old 2.3, which has a much bigger gap about four inches.
I wondered if anybody could advise me on the normal gap, and, if I need new springs ,the best place to buy them from.

If your springs are shot you'll know as it will wallow like a dead whale. Open rear door and if you can press gently on door and the car drops easily then rear springs are shot.

Mark at mgautos on here does springs.

The space between the shell and the mounts depends on if it has had a body lift so the 2 in difference might be a 2in lift you didn't know about

Jack you truck up and spin your rear wheels just check your bearings.

As rough ride could mean a multiple of things
