It'll probably run yes, but problem free no. The vp44 fuel pump is a delicate pyramid of cards when it comes to fuel, good quality diesel only or it'll chew itself inside out. That said I don't know of anyone actually doing it so who knows, it might actually prefer the thickness of veg oil, but given the cost of a replacement fuel pump (assuming your y20 engine has the same pump as the fronteras y22tdh) being nearly 4 figures I can't see anyone trying it either.
