Owners of diesel vehicles to be charged extra £8 a month for parkingIslington Council have decided to charge diesel car owners 100 quid a year for the privilege of parking outside their own homes... And to think people actually vote these muppets in! And no, shock horror etc etc Islington London Borough Council arent controlled by the Green Party although with 47 Labour councillors and a single Green councillor with ideas like this you would wonder. Maybe the estimated 9000 diesel cars in the Borough each getting slam-dunked with a 100 quid charge and the resulting 900000 quid was more in their minds....
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ) Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck.Comments on 'O-no' the truck may be left hereWork in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... But diesel is cleaner than petrol? Ok so you get soot but soot particles are relatively big so drop to the ground rather than being airborne, especially in this country where it rains alot and washes the soot away. A quick Google search backs up what I thought about diesels being cleaner and better for the environment. I think it's just a money making scheme.
I don't understand why the UK hates diesels so much, in Europe diesel is usually cheaper than petrol to buy, mainly because city diesel is mostly a by-product of making petrol so doesn't cost much to actually make. So upside down
My 2.8 shorty - now sold, and comments hereMy old dti - now sold "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW --- What a Ride!" This vehicle runs on 100% recycled dinosaurs

Surely something of an oxymoron in this story?! Supposed to be about reducing pollution (what with diesel being the new enemy) and yet they want to charge people extra when the vehicle is PARKED and therefore making no pollution Still best to ignore yet another scare story from the Mail about UK going to the dogs at the hands of a Labour council -as ever too much reliance on "proposed" / "sources reveal" etc to ever be good and accurate journalism

the trouble with london and the environmental issues, they think london is the environment.
i know we are just playing devils advocate and you dont need me to tell you this, but its been the same since the 1950s and the clean air act. its about physical solid pollution, peoples health at street level, not about greenhouse gases or anything that matters in regards global warming

Daily Fail tsk tsk ... why do people still keep reading their stuff. Our equivalent to Fox News. This is probably a reaction to the government/EU stating a few months ago that they now regret pushing for diesel cars to be the norm. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/new ... ution.html
