banter general discussions etc

Just an Idea I've been mulling around... I was wondering if two or three members might like to meet up somewhere for a photoshoot - you bring the Frontera, I'll bring the camera. I've "snapped" many Frontera's at play but not done many static shots, and I'd also like to try a "rolling" shot (but that needs someone to be my driver - hense the thought of 2-3 vehicles) Sadly, the location would have to be local to the West Midlands and ideally would be in a pituresqe location (I'm not thinking pay & play or green lane days) - perhaps the Long Mynnd or Cannock Chase - any other ideas, Some samples from the archives: We could perhaps spend a morning or an afternoon shooting the cars in different locations and different poses and maybe yourselves as well (although I'm not yet confident at portraits). Then grab a coffee, have a chat and what-not. What would you get - one (or more) large un-watermarked digital file of an edited image What would the photo cost you - nothing (I enjoy taking photos) (although you cover your travelling expences) Why am I thinking of this - I don't expect to be doing much Fronteraing this year, so i'ts a way of keeping in touch and improving my photo skills. Maybe we could do this once a month. Your thoughts ? Lawrence

Massively good idea Lawrence, count me and the Truck in.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ) Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Goes without saying Lawrence. You've taken some great photos of my truck and Maria, pre cameo. Would be great to get some more done and perhaps the redneck militia can tie in a trip up the mynd

Another gratuitus 4x4 photo: (http://www.Loz.Pics)IMG_7450 by Trugga, on Flickr I'm still thinking about doing this, even moreso some locations - if you have any ideas, then please shout up. Sceneic locations work well, countryside, fields, mountains (but no telegraph poles etc) Maybe an urban environment: abandoned buildings, grafitti etc P&P days don't work particularly well, due to "clutter" (other vehicles etc) and mud everywhere looses definition. I'm currently looking to change my road car (the Volvo) so have couple of weekends busy kicking tyres, and start a new job in a couple of weeks - but I am thinking of popping up to Derbyshire (Milner 4x4) next month; perhaps we could arrange a meet there (but you'd have to propose a venue) Another gratuitus 4x4 photo (yes, it is a 4x4): Lawrence Fowler 00026 by Trugga, on Flickr OK, I know these are "action" shots, but the environment might give you some ideas for a location Lawrence

Why not do this at the annual again Lozza?...I remember your photo shoots being popular at avalanche, and the woods made for some good pictures last time you came down here.

Greg, not a bad idea and the Woods in on my thought list - I'm wanting in to change my road car before I commit to the AM though.
It was difficult for photography in the Woods (low light) - well, to the high quality standard I want to achieve and I had to compromise on that quality for the Woods shots I took in 2013 (whilst the shrunk down photos posted on the forum look OK, an A2 print looks pretty ghastly).
Maybe there are some field perimeter tracks we could use ? or maybe we could be granted "sensible" access to a fallow field ?

What about out on some byways at the annual. There's got to be something without too much tree cover around there.
This can only end badly
