Welding spanner partySo the DTI went for it's mot yesterday and failed on the rear sills needing welding, now i've never welded so would rather help someone who has bit of a clue on how to do it. I'm off next week if that's any good to anyone?

Re: Welding spanner partyAndy was like an artist today carefully grinding and bending metal i think he said he was going to take up sculpture lol. Ian and I battled with snapped bolts but the temperature plummeted and we weren't able to feel our hands so enough for one day.
Re: Welding spanner partyIf I do say so myself. I'm amazed at how well it come out considering I didn't even use a tape measure. A couple of years ago I couldn't even weld in a straight line.

Re: Welding spanner partyWell done andy! That's a very neat job! Abit of grinding and small amount of filler and most probably wouldn't know! And no I can't weld in a straight line without something to follow lol

Re: Welding spanner partyPlan!!
Nice work Andy btw. Your getting to be a master at sills. As Rob says its that practice on his SWB that did it I reckon. An entire sill in one go. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771

Re: Welding spanner partyWell we did it. Both sills and rear wheel arches patched & welded. All Brian needs to do for the MOT on Monday is apply some filler and paint them.
Two photos of Ian taking over the welding because I had already spent 4 hours doing it. ![]() ![]() i hate having Dyslexia
Re: Welding spanner partyAll went well today i managed to do the ARB yesterday so all was needed today was welding. Andy and Ian put in a top performance as usual and Andy was in his element grinding, hammering and welding even though he had terrible man flu to which the pouring rain and cold didn't help.
I believe the car will rot away and all we be left will be the 2 sills Thanks again chaps
Re: Welding spanner partyWell done to you all.
This shows exactly what FOG is about. Somewhere along the way we have had a down turn in the way people are on here. Not many are prepared to give up their time to help another member in need. Once again a great big well done!!!!!! Regards to all, Bobster. Comments on Betsy here please!!! viewtopic.php?f=115&t=56282
