Been trying to tax my motor for 2 days !

It's always the way my road tax falls when something changes !... It's a nightmare , iv been trying to tax it for 2 days !..... Tomorrow is drag all my paper work out from what ever box Iv hidden it in a woddle :axe:

After digging out the renewal form mot and
insurance certificates I headed to post
office yesterday (30 sept) to be told I only
needed the renewal form and dosh to pay for the tax.

Well that's God send because IV no idea were my other bits are ! Cheers buddy

Not today though. The system crashed first thing this morning. Still down.

Typical.. No prizes for guessing who didn't spec the infrastructure properly to cope with the load in the first place then!

Do the cameras/camera cars live log onto the same system when checking a passing vehicles tax/MOT/insurance etc. credentials?
With the abolision of the paper tax disc, I wonder if we'll see a significant increase in detection vehicles on the road.
Can't see that they will leave it all to the police to cover this immense work load so how long will it be before sub divisions and formed within the authorities division with specialist camera vehicles patrolling our streets. High tec modilised traffic wardens rather than higher paid police manned vehicles. For my tuppence worth, there's to much money to be had in fines for the authorities not to tap into this source.

Hadn't known the Post Office didnlt need the
MoT and insurance papers Keith, I'd been
using the internet system for the past couple of years, including SORNing the Fronty earlier
this year.
Next time around I'll possibly use the pay-as-you -go facility that's supposedly starting
next month. Less painful that shelling out a quarter of a grand in one hit.

Far to easy to clone a motor now.....! it was always a deterrent when a valid disc had to be displayed, now every gypo and his dog will be copying plates and driving insurance/tax free.

My cavalier didn't have a tax disk in it at all for the past year and a half lol (was taxed just didn't display it). No one used to check them so can't see why they'd bother now? And yeah cloning a vehicle is easy so it's important to keep your vehicle well photographed and ideally customised so that there's no question as to what one is the real thing

I am still sore at their money grabbing technique with this new scheme...obviously following local authorities success with car park tickets where you have to put a reg number on...
My bug bear...like car park tickets, you have to pay for more time than you need to be safe, but that extra time (although you have paid for a space for say 2 hrs) cant be given to someone else to use up...So local authorities with a 100 space busy car park, probably manage to have 120+ paying spaces in it as someone else is now paying for your already paid for space to park in it.
Road tax is now the same...every time a car changes hands the dvla basically make a months money...Say you sell a car on the 15th of the month, you will only get refunded full months, so you loose 1/2 a month, yet your new car you will have to tax from the beginning of the month, so you have to pay for 15days for nothing....same goes for the person you sell you car to, and the person you bought a car off, for however long the chain is...
There is no reason that Tax cant be calculated daily, it would be just as easy, so you get back the days left, and pay from the day you tax it....other than the dvla wont make a mint out of it.
It takes the pee, and is just another way of taxing motorists. Your insurance runs from whatever date for one year, as does mot, as does pretty much everything else in life, other than car parking...Theiving scumbags.
