Re: The saying if you don't ask you will never know.Hi Big Dav yep i have checked that forum out. Hi Ratcav im trying to find a couple of bits of info first one i know it takes 555g of refrigerant but i was wondering what the pressure should be in the system. Next one is i was hoping to bypass the pressure switch to see if the clutch kicks in but the switch has 3 wires so not sure if i can do that. Any input would be helpful. Cheers.

Re: The saying if you don't ask you will never know. The system runs at different pressures depending on where you are. You will have a higher pressure from the outlet of the compressor to the expansion valve. Then the pressure will be less after the expansion valve to the compressor.
The clutch should only have a single wire to it. That will be 12v. It earths through the body of the compressor. Well that is how every belt driven compressor I ever seen works in automotive applications. I have seen quite a lot being in the business for 4 years. What car is is your looking at? ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
Re: The saying if you don't ask you will never know. It's on a 06 megane II. The compressor is a delphi which has two wires going to it. I have been trying to find the pinouts so i can apply a fused 12v feed to it to see if the clutch will kick in. At the moment when i opperate the aircon switch there is no voltage going to the compressor. I have connected a bosch kts200 to the car but for some reason it does not like talking to the megane so i don't no if if there are any error codes that need clearing before it will function again. I was hopping to fit a 2 way service manifold kit to it to see if there is any pressure in the system. I dont want to put any refrigerant in it just yet in case there is a leak don't want it going straight into the atmosphere. I wanted to try everything before getting it regassed and some uv dye added.

Re: The saying if you don't ask you will never know. You will need a twin gauge set. One (blue) for the low side, and another (red) for the high side. The gauge ports are different on cars compared to normal refrigeration systems. You will also need a PT chart to work out how much gas is in there.
I would just take it somewhere and they can vac and fill it for little money these days. As for the compressor I reckon you will have to get a wiring diagram out and trace them. Looking at things I would say black is ground, and green is 12v live.

Re: The saying if you don't ask you will never know.No thats fine every little bit of information no matter how small is always helpful

Re: The saying if you don't ask you will never know.Hi RatCav just to let you know aircon is now working. There had been a pressure issue so the ecu had disabled the aircon clutch even though the fault had been rectified it would not work until the error code had been cleared.
