well a massive thanks to andytats for his swift delivery of a fuel sender ,,i have now fitted this and wired it up ,,turned the key ,,air lock so off with the air filter hose and a few sprays of the good ladys hairspray and the beast coughed and spluttered then in a ball of smoke she was up and running ,,,,just a small matter of taping over the hole in the boot floor but thats nowt to worry about ,,,thanks for all the advice guys ,,,on track again for the annual

No worries mate glad it all worked out ok. At least we now know that a 2.5 sender unit works in the 2.3
