2.0 swb - the truth about them?

So everyone says that they are massively under powered and you need to rev the nuts off them to get anywhere yet they seem to be the most popular fronty around (in terms of numbers of them on the bay etc) so they cant be THAT bad?? Ive never driven a 2 litre so what are they like really? On and off road? and what are they like on fuel?? I know fudge will say his gets 65mpg but what do everyone elses get??

And if you do have to rev the nuts off them (more thinking off road at this stage) how well do they handle it? ie will it sit on the limiter for days on end or do they blow up if held above 4 grand for a few seconds?

it is more like 35 ish is possible if you drive it right...
but the duck has been giving me 28ish..

i dont need to rev the nits off it, normally about 2k and it is all good.
and ive never had a problem with a c20 and remember the LWL was a c20 and greg did nothing but rev the nuts off.

My 2ltr now has a 3" lift and no rear anti roll bar... i "tested" it and it didnt fall over lol. With 31s on it suffers slighty but not too bad at all. It pulls much better on the 31s than my 2.2i did.

Fuel... i cant help... my gauge dont work

Offroad... ive NEVER taken a vitara offroad without breaking it in some way but the fronteras ive not broken at all yet. They seem to go nearly anywhere with good tyres and a lot further with the rear diff locked.

On the road ive had about 90 95 but its happy at 75. To keep up with normal traffic you dont need to rev the nuts off it but with my 31s it needs to stay in gear a bit longer as the gears are further apart.

I really like my one but i love diesels so its going

Brilliant vehicles, used to get between 24-28mpg depending how i drove it. I have had 2 now both leafers and off road there easy to throw around as there shorter. I loved mine and the only reason i haven't bought another is health reasons. A highly recommended truck..

saying that dan i know someone who has a very nice 2.0 sport and only needs some welding for an mot...

It's going in for another test tomorrow so we'll find out if I've done enough or not. But given its just a toy I could benefit from the cheaper insurance. Etc. But I do like the feel of the torque but on the other hand the sound of a rev limiter is something I haven't herd in a while lol
