Non fronty related this time. I have recently got my hands on a little sailing boat which needs a fair amount of work doing to it. Dont worrk I wont ask technical questions about the boat, just the engine
Unfortunately the boat has been stood for 3 yrs. The engine is full of emulsified oil, either due to 3 yrs of condensation, head gasket failure, or the water pump seal (raw water cooled).
As I would rather see if I can get the engine sorted in situ (pain in the arse to remove the engine) I was going to try and remove as much oil as I can. I will obviously drain the sump, but the sticky goo is everywhere. I am thinking of pouring a load of diesel in and soak it for a few days, then flush it out a couple of times. Does anyone know of any products specificaly for doing this or is diesel the way forward?
