What's a fair price for a head (y22se)

Iv a chap wanting the old head of my truck ! The heads good just with out cams ! Looking. There going for £125+ on eBay what price should I ask ??? I don't want to rip that guy of as he sounds strapped for cash but I'm not wanting to give it away so to speak !

prices for heads vary quite a lot, I have bought several on their own in the past or complete engines.. For less than a head before. Is there any reason why there are no cams? If you want a reasonable price it should be complete..

IF there are no cams, does that also mean that there are no lifters? Are all the screws/bridges there?

I suppose for a complete head you could say from £40 - £100 in known working order depending if its trade or private, but as you said you also see them for £125 on places like ebay.. How badly your need or availability will usually dictate what you pay.

If its in bits and your probably not going to use it ever, give the guy a break/do a deal..you never know when someone will do the same for you in an hour of need

Stripped the cams out because I intended on rebuilding the whole thing ( not sure you remember but thread on improving the y22se ) ???? And managed to drop and snap 1 cam ( ham fisted that i am ) bridges , screws and lifters all in place !!!!!

Will get the dudes number and speak to him ! It's not him doing the work it's a local mechanic from what he's said !
Will give the good name of FOG and boost and see if I can help the dude

I bought a Y head on ebay for £70. It was through the ebay local offer site which give items for collection only over a selected radius. This means your bidding against people in your area or others from afar who are more desperate.
