ford fiesta abs problem

dont know where this should go so can admin please move it to where it should be .
We have a 2008 ford fiesta and the ABS light has come on . Had the codes read and it is 1095 - ABS hydraulic pump failure , does anyone know if it could be a broken wire or relay or something simple ? Ford want £1003 to replace the pump :shock:

In my opinion the pump shouldnt fail on a car less than 5 years old with 50,000 miles on it , the bloody discs or pads havent been changed yet so to have to fork out for a new pump seems excessive .
what i really need is the " simple fix " answer , failing that any knowledge of similar faults on similar cars would at least arm me for a rant at Ford customer services . Any advice greatly appreciated

Not sure on the fiesta abs system but fiesta abs second hand pumps are less than £100 in most cases.

on the bay they are around £150 secondhand , my concern is that an ABS pump shouldnt fail on a 5 year old car , the fronty is 13 and thats not had a new ABS pump

Sometimes these things happen unfortunately, is it within any warranty?
If not sadly Ford will not help

Did the techi at Ford check the wiring or just a diagnostic check?

I do hope one of the guys will be able to pin point an area for you to check, on a thought I think Gazeddy worked as a mechanic in Fords for a while. :thumbup:

Those Fiestas are known for that issue... Had a friend where i used to work who had the same issue. We ended up bolting a new one in only to discover it had to be coded to the ECU! Eventually got the original rebuilt by BBA reman i think!

yes i am/was a ford tech. 2008 fiesta doesnt use a coded abs pump but ive replaced one or two but not loads of em. sadly though that code looks like the pump is returning a death code not a comms issue or other thing.

is the car current shape or old shape and does the instrument cluster have dashes in it /speedo failure?

the shape is the facelift old shape - the one with the little bubbles on the headlights . speedo works fine , so i dont think its water ingress like in other models , although the drain under the windscreen is directly above the ABS pump .
ive spoke to Ford customer services and expressed my concern that a car as "reliable" as a fiesta should suffer from such a failure and that this will obviously affect my decision when i come to change the car around november . I also mentioned that my 13 year old Frontera only cost me £70 to put through its MOT whereas a 5 yr old ,51000 mile Ford is going to cost me £1000.
I have to take it in to a Ford dealer on monday for an official diagnosis and then speak to customer services again.

had another look this morning and noticed that there is 3 fuses for the ABS - a 30 , a 20 and a 3 . the 30 amp fuse has blown ,changed it still got the light on but i presume that will need clearing - would a knackered pump cause the 30 amp to blow but none of the others?

hmm never seen that fuse blow. but if its the 2001-2008 shape and not 2008 - present shape its rather common for abs pump to fail. but generally its only the electric part that fails and not the valve block

i got a serial number of 4S61-2M110-DA . Is it just the DA part i need to match up ? the one on the ebay link looks very good, same serial etc and only £830 cheaper than one from Ford
