Re: Best Breakdown ServiceI'm with green flag but not for long , they left a lone women ( my wife ) for 3and a half hours before recovery ! Not best impressed
I feel it's maybe not the recovery company but when they use 3rd party garages e.i green flag runs on 3rd party garages ! Had a bad experience with a 3rd party garage usedby the AA aswell !!!!but will be returning to the AA when Iv disposed of green flag . So my vote is AA
Re: Best Breakdown ServiceI'm with the AA and I've just had a reminder for April, and it's gone up £3.20 so I phoned them up and had a whinge, and they have now dropped the £3.20 big deal !! the phone call probably cost that much, but it's better than nothing I suppose

Re: Best Breakdown ServiceRAC every time. Never had a bad experience with them in all the years I have been a member. They do a no claims discount as well. Worth noting if they fix your car on the side of the road it doesn't count as a claim.
I was with Greenflag once and to be honest I also suffered from the multiple hour wait, and less than helpful service once they arrived. Was also with the AA, and they refused to help me what-so-ever when I had a double blow out leaving me in the middle of Lincolnshire, my G/F at the time and her younger sister who was only 6 at 10 pm on a Sunday night. Nowhere open and not a clue as to who to phone or go (this was before the age of internet on your phone). ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
Re: Best Breakdown ServiceJust my opinion Barrie, but there all as bad as each other
I've been with Green Flag, RAC and the AA over the years and currently use the AA. I'd never go back to the RAC again as a matter of principle due to an incident a few years back but that's another story The sad reality with any recovery service is it's pretty much pot luck with the response you get on that odd occasion you actually need them. There are occasions where you can get some absolutely superb guys (or girls) turn up and they do everything possible to get you sorted and on your way again and then you get others who really couldn't give a toss and just want to be done with you and palm you off onto a low loader. I've found the wait times are rarely as quoted by the call center staff that you speak to and most of the time you'll now end up with a sub contractor sent out to you anyway unless your on or near to a fairly major Motorway or City. Personally I just try and find the best level of cover I can for me and the Mrs at the cheapest price. At the moment that's the AA for us. We pay less than £10 a month for the pair of us and it also includes cover for the kids (new thing the AA seem to be doing at the minute) so if their out in Car's belonging to the parents of their friends, grand parents, etc they can actually get the AA out to them and get the kids brought home to us which actually is quite a nice bit of additional peice of mind as Sarah's parents rarely seem to bother getting breakdown cover
Re: Best Breakdown Servicefrom my experince of aa rac i am with rac now as they dont quibble about pickin my truck dirty or clean.
they all have an issue with being LPG but the rac will play with it as long as gas turned off the aa had an issue with it being plastered in mud and even though the driver offered to tow me(in an auto) to a garage so i could jet wash it as was told there policy was no to muddy 4x4 especailly if wet, mine was dry as been off roading day before. had a right set to with manager on the phone before telling where to go and ringing rac was loading the truck onto a flat bed 2 hours later no quibbles. all depends on the day as every driver is different but for me RAC all the way and only £10 a month with onwards travels home start gets me 7 recoverys unlimited road side call out and free hire car for upto 3 days if i use the onwards travel just have to look for offers as they vary depending on site cheers

Re: Best Breakdown ServiceI have never had an issue with the AA. The only time I have used them to get me home in the Fronty was a couple of years ago at Bala when my timing belt snapped, was covered in mud too
The only niggle is they hike the price up at renewal time but if you check the new members rate on the internet then call them they lower it down to that, I do this every year and save tens of pounds Ste

Re: Best Breakdown ServiceI've just been on to the AA Drift, and to get the low new member rate they reckon I'll have to leave for six weeks and then re-join.! is this what you do every year.?
