A friend has more money than sense , he bought himself the above !!!! That day befor she is due off shore ( he works on the rigs , hence more money than sense ) so I gets a FB message asking if I can chuck it in my drive because he has just realised its out of tax !!!!!!
Long story short , I can't get the thing started !!!!!!
Engine turns but ain't firing up ??? Any clues gents ?????

What engine is it?

Has he used diesel or veg in it?

Is there antifreeze in the coolant?

Are the glow plugs kicking in?

a lot of the delica's had an immobiliser on them small black fob on the key ring

Fluids look fine , diesel not veg and no immobiliser fob ! Glow plug light goes on and then off as it should !!!
It's a auto so it should be in park an I right ?
Anybody no if they are just generally bad starters if left for a few days ? Cold etc ???

If its an automatic you might also have to press the brake pedal when you start it :thumbup:

Delica should be the same as our Pajero...
It wont crank unless it is in park, and you have to press the brake pedal to get it out of park.

Sounds like immoboliser maybe, although ours doesnt crank as that circuit is isolated by it as well.

Does is spin over quickly, (or did it before you took the edge off the battery's)...if so I would say no fuel, might be worth pumping the fuel up on the lift pump and try again.
It isnt going to want to start with glow plugs to, check these are getting power, the relays often mess around...worst case see if you can run a jump lead to the glowplug rail.

The starter motor buggered up on hours today... :twisted:

It turns pritty strong but does fire !!!! Are they a bit rubbish cold start ? ( read a couple of forums ) no immobilser from what I can see !!! Pumped fuel pump thing and its pritty stiff !
At the min it's in park , have tried foot on brake etc no joy !
Were is the fuel pump ? How would I go about checking it works !
FOG to the rescue again !

Glow plugs mate...find the plug rail and whack a jump lead between that and the battery +....give it 10 seconds, then disconnect it and try again, I bet its not preheating.

what about a bit of easy start or similar down it ? just to see if it fires up ? mite be addicted to it or mite find it fires up and it cud be pump

FIXED IT HAHAHAHHAAH WELL I say fixed it ! I managed to get intouch with my pal and the glow plugs have been bypassed with a manual switch !!!!! Arse
