Evening all..got a small annoying problem with a 02 plate ford focus.
the key fob doesn't appear to be doing it's business..
right the car was my father-in-laws, up until he passed away, and I remember that about 6 months ago he told me that the central locking fob wasn't working. don't know if he ever took it to ford or changed the battery, done the resetting thing or not. and there is no point in asking him now..
well I've changed the battery, and tried the reprogramme/reset thing.
4 turns till it goes beep and the little led should go solid, then press a button. well the led doesn't go solid and i don't get a second beep..what am i doing wrong? or is there a problem elsewhere?
all doors lock/unlock manually and lock all doors. so my head is saying it's between the fob and the reciever in the car, but how car i tell if the fob is working or not..oh, it drives ok so there is no fault with the immobilliser (is this in the fob or is it just using the correct key) the spare key is just a normal blank as in no button thingy.
if it's the fob not working.
does a new one have to be a brand new expensive ford one or can I use a second hand one from the bay of fleas, and reprogramme that?
another fault..it's got a cassette radio ! it's an 02 not a 1980..what was ford thinking?, and why put a radio in that's neither single nor double din. it's more like a 1.5 din..
hopefully someone here has the solve for me, then i can get on to fixing the wifes Civic (gearbox bearings died) then onto the fronty..
