Spanner party in Essex

Well the new clutch kit for my 2.8 has arrived, so now the hard bit.....fitting it :roll:

Not really a job I can do on my own so if anyone with any experience of changing a clutch on a 2.8 can help it would be greatly appreciated (along with oodles of tea, coffee, cupcakes, n bacon butties)

Unfortunately, the only day I have off work in the near future is Saturday 7th October (day before the picnic) so I understand if folks cant make it.

Any help would be great. I have most of the stuff needed (apart from a clutch aligning tool) but more is better than less so feel free to bring tools n stuff

And if anyone wanted to stay over on their way to the picnic, the caravan is available in the garden and room on the back lawn for 2 or 3 tents

I might be able to make it buddy. All depends on timing of things closer to the day. As Rob says we are experienced in doing this as a 2 man team and I know where things are on these engines and gearboxes. I have a couple of trolly jacks and not unknown to be under the gearbox holding it up.

All I can say is it makes it a far far nicer job when everything is clean and you don't get half the countryside in mud in your face everytime you take a spanner to something

If we cannot get it done in a day then we are doing something seriously wrong.

If someone has some decent axle stands can they bring them as mine are the ALDI foldaway ones and not 100% on them supporting the whole weight of the truck

I may possible pop down to lend a hand and can bring my 3ton axle stands

They were from a tank :p

I have a couple of sets of axle stands that i can bring with me.

you wont need to put it on axle stands to take the gearbox out will you ? just as easy if not easier on 4 wheels id of thought

Thought I'd better just say. There is only room on the drive for my truck and possibly one other. All other trucks will need to be parked in the street (it does get a bit crowded down here)

Put me down Ian and if the wench can make it and we're going to the Picnic can we use your caravan for the night? I'll bring high lift jack, tools etc.
