Freeze spray - does it do what it says on the can

Anybody ever used freeze spray shock and release?
Does it do what it says it can do on the tin?
Looking at the description, it freezers and slightly cracks the rust, which in turn allows the combined penetrating oil in to where it's needed - but to what extent is my question.
Is it the answer to them very popular rusted on nuts on my Frontera :evil:

Halfords do their own flavour but the single review I read referred to the original Loctite flavour as doing a better job

I used the halfords stuff last night to help split a steering idler taper, worked well though I did also use 3 in 1 penetration spray, a few blows with the lump hammer and two sessions with the puller in different positions did the job, I think it helps.
For the cost of the loctite and postage you can get both tins at halfords :wink:

Use either LOCTITE 8040 FREEZE & RELEASE 400ml AEROSOL or AMBERSIL AMBERSIL FREEZER SPRAY 400ml

Any other brand will be inferior. Not to say it won't work, but anything else will be very much inferior and a false economy.
I sell 5 different makes, and anyone who buys the cheap stuff but has used the Loctite or Ambersil ones, always comments on how much better the branded products work.

So what do you reckon then Paul, spray of the Loctite stuff followed by the 3-in-1 penetrating oil or something??

Bardahl release oil (bar code no:- 3266720011239) then a quiet glass of wine or beer while it gets in there and does its thing and off they come.
In the old days, when I were a lad, we just painted it with diesel and went down the pub for a night or two.

Tried the halfords one when removing a very stuck side-step mounting bolt, not sure if it did the trick or not tbh cos I also sprayed a load of wd40 over it, went for a brew then came back, put a mtr long breaker bar on it, lent in some tension on the bar and then gave the chassis next to the bolt a proper belting with mr lump hammer. Unsurprisingly it came loose.

Blow torch works great
