Oil Pressure Guage

Postby englishsteve on Thu Jun 07, 2012 8:25 am

Hi all..not sure if this is the right place or not to ask this..but here goes.

Im not used to having an oil pressure gauge so how should it work, when i start up the gauge is in the red and only moves up and down when i excellarate and change gear, but this morning when i started up (about 0600) the gauge was at the top and only moved a little downwards by the time i got to work (around 15min drive), is this ok...and if not what should it do/

Many Thanks

When cold the gauge will read high normally at the top as the oil is the thickest when cold. When warm at normal running temp the gauge will read alot lower normally barely registering when ticking over, as the engine revs increase so will the oil pressure.

Hope this helps
