The old lady was a 2.4 petrol (-94), which compared to the 2.5 (-98) was VERY tired. Even if the 2.5 is half way into limp mode.
The 2.4 took about 11-13Liters per 100km, the 2.5 normally 8-9liters, The last two years alltime high is 11 liters, but then it was very cold and engine running a lot on idle but not driving. Alltime low is 7.2 liters per 100km.

Maintained, the engine is like a dream.

But of course, it is an old car, so problems exists, but still I love it!

Yeah go for it mate. You'll feel a marked difference in performance.
Its the best one for economy too. (High 30s)
A well maintained one is a good buy. Enjoy.

BTW, loads of advice here for diesel newbies.

thanks guys,EXACTLY what i wanted to hear,iv wanted this car ever since he bought it (its the grey/black metallic same as my first swb sport) just didnt want to get into a horror story :oh yer:
its in pretty good condition, though front bumper and side steps need replacing due to age related corrosion,il post some pics as soon as we take delivery :D
by the way, whats the difference with the transglobe?or is it merely a badge name with little else behind it?
