Gm\Isuzu Hierarchy

Ok so being quite new to Frontys I was just wondering if the more "in the know" peeps on here could explain the relatioship between the two manufacturers.

How much is interchangeable between the the two and on the scale of things where do all the models compare? Is a Monterey nothing more than a straight " badge over" of a Trooper or is it more subtle.

Basically the Frontera originated in Japan as the Isuzu (MU Mysterious Utility Vehicle) as the SWB and the LWB was the Wizard, GM hooked up with Isuzu and built them and marketed them in Europe under the Frontera name with GM engines.
The only time GM used Isuzu engines was for the 2.8 TDI and the 3.2 V6.

They where also sold in the States as a Honda Passport and Rodeo, with other engine options.
