Engines!

I'm looking to get rid of the sport for the practicality of a diesel LWB but i've got a bit of confusion! And I'll be going for an A series so I can interchange a few parts where I can.

I hear the holy grail of the diesels is the 2.8 but when scouting about I see 2.8 Tdi, Dti, TD..

What years is this here 2.8 in and whats the propper designation? I'm off to look at one this week and it's advertised as 2.8 TDI Diamond and it's a 1996. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Only one 2.8 in either swb or lwb. Same engine. :-)

on my 2.216v the diamond has full leather interior with walnut trim electric sunroof full electric windows & colour match mirrors
chrome sidesteps rear compartment cover with dog/cargo net solid sparewheel cover :drink:

I don't think the wood trim was standard on the Diamond though was it John ? There are two near me and neither have the wood , but they both have the black leather which is quite nice.

The 2.8TDi (Turbo Diesel Intercooled) was available from May 1995 to September 1996 in either Sport or Estate versions.

This was replaced with the 2.5 TDS up until September 1998 (I think) when the B Series body was introduced (and the diesels then became DTi's)

Prior to the 2.8 was the 2.3, with the drop down tailgate and the swing away wheel carrier (Estate only).

The facelift dashboard appeared around September 1996 as well.
