Help with van steering

I have a lwb Peugeot boxer for work, in the last day or so ,the steering seems a little vague. The best way to describe it is : if you were to go out on a cold morning & whilst driving along the road, you hit a small patch of black ice, where the steering goes all loose for a few seconds . Mine is like that, any suggestions?, before i take it to a garage & get robbed. oh & the tyres are ok.
