Back in july on a sunny tuesday evening it was the first time i saw the frontera,she sat proudly on a driveway washed and polished,from that moment i knew i had to have her,i was smitten and it was love at first sight...so i paid the man and we drove of into the fading sunset.A few miles passed and i felt a thirst so i pulled over at bp garage to get myself and my frontera a cool refreshing drink,mine was a coke and she had 70 litres of bp's finest unleaded..the trip home was amazing and i grinned from ear to ear...

now fast foward 7 months...

the love affair is over,im done with her :cry:

..although she is a great fronty she is just to thirsty and to big for me now so were parting company.i have loved every minute and learned alot about her,sadly she still hasnt seen any offroad action and remained a school run motor,sad really as she has so much potential..as a replacement i dont know what to get just yet although im looking at a bmw 320 convertable in the week..

why am i writing this you may be wandering..well i guess its just to say thanks for all the advice i got from here and what a great club you have here,long may it continue..

ive looked at getting a 2.2dti but in all honesty the fronty is just to big...plus its really pooey on fuel,i will fill the tank completely at it will only do 260-280 miles,so im doing over 2 tanks a month just going to and from work

if i knew it was gonna get even 400miles to a tank i would be keeping it but im not sure why its so thirsty,any ideas...i know that it has a little leak in the filler neck but surely that wouldnt be the cause as i now never brim it...even when the fuel light has been on ive don a little test of just refilling with a tenners worth of petrol to see how far i will get..i get about 22 miles and need to fill up again..

thing is sometimes in the past few weeks she has been pretty good..140 miles out of 25 litres,but now is no good

i dont know why some 2.2s seem to drink so much fuel, i get approx 21mpg but that consists of mainly in town driving with the occasional 20 mile trip here & there which aint too bad really, ive read mpg should vary somewhere between 20 - 26 ish so 23 would be about the average so your 15ish is well low.
just worked it out & at 21 mpg you should get approx 380 to a full tank.
i dont think the fuel gauge is that accurate & they were only fitted by vx for a rough guide

Erm.. in a bit of a mercenary way.. if your selling.. any chance of a pic and a price? Theres more than enough nutters on here.. and it would be nice to keep it in the club.. (so you can keep an eye on it)..

We had a police BMW stuck in the snow when me and Andysd1 where towing cars out, he couldnt move at all, he didnt have a tow eye either :roll:

well ive just got back from seeing a couple of cars,one of which i was offered a deal on the fronty,but i couldnt do,i dont know what it was but i just couldnt p/x it...so its back home on the drive....why have i become emotionally attached to my fronty,its never happened with any of my other cars,so after lunch im gonna wash,top the levels up and see where i go from there,but it may just be staying with me now for a little while longer...has your fronty had this effect on you or am i just being a weirdo

Im totaly smitten with Frontera's i would'nt get rid of mine its got to die before that happens. The fuel on mine is pants aswell but to get over that i bought a 1.4ltr Golf Mk3 which i use for the every day stuff then when i want to smile i get in the Fronty!!!!!!!!! :wink:

What about going down that route as the Golf road tax is £128 a year and insurance is cheap too??????????

I was thinking this on the way home...maybe i might get a little pug 106d for the daily drive...saying that im moving 10 miles nearer to my job so that will help on the fuel bill
