fuel pricesi got this email and thaught id share. what do you think ...................Dear All,
Here is an interesting idea to think about (and act upon?)...unless you've already received the same message independently! Please see what you think and pass it on if you agree with it. We are hitting £1.29 a litre in some areas now and soon we will be faced with paying £1.50 per litre. So Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign' that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS - not sellers control the market place. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one) i.e. ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot of people. If all of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)....and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on. By the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all YOU have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all (and not buy at ESSO/BP). How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell,Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Jet etc. i.e. Boycott BP and Esso
Re: fuel pricesThis email comes around every time the fuel gets near a record high, sadly this country is not united enough to do anything passively about it like what is suggested.

Has BP been selected for a particular reason???
Re: fuel pricesIf this was France we'd be burning things and rioting by now. It's all a bit depressing when the French are a more united nation than the UK.
Shame on us.
Re: fuel pricesin this country we seem to have a moan then just get on with it
Re: fuel pricesAnd to be honest it will never be taken up by one of the biggest users of fuel ... company fuel card holders who have BP/Esso cards.

Re: fuel pricesThe other day i got one of them propaganda e-mails regarding petrol..I say propaganda, as I don't often believe them and I really can't be bothered to waste my time researching their "facts"...
basically it was saying that, at todays price, a litre of petrol at the pump minus duty and tax is £0.48.. like I said weather this is true or not i'm unsure.don't start a gert big debate about it please, we all know nothing will happen as the motorist is the country's cash cow...we all need fuel..we have to buy road tax, along with all the other trapments of owning a car.. as a side note, my brother lives in the US and was telling me that the fuel there has sky rocketed aswell (forget how much he said it cost to fill their car, but it was an awfull lot less than ours) eventually, there will be protests regarding fuel prices..won't be blockades, due to it now being called a terrrorist act. The greatest lesson in life is to know that even us idiots are right sometimes

Re: fuel pricesThe reality is that whilst the Petroleum Companys are with out a doubt making fortunes from the sale of crude oil and refined fuels, it's actually the UK Government that is cripling us.
Between the Fuel Duty & VAT over 70% of what you pay at the pumps actually kicks back to the government so in reality, yes the Companys could make fuel a little cheaper, it would have very little impact until the Government reduce the Fuel Duty or VAT on Fuel, which let's face it, is sadly never going to happen Last edited by MG Autos (Mark) on Sat Jan 15, 2011 12:45 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: fuel pricesThe last time this email was circulating was when the prices were at similar levels to what they are now. The same two companies, now one, were the subject of the proposed action.
I drove past the BP garage on the A24 just north of Worthing and the forecourt was full. A little further down the road and the Q8 forecourt was empty, even though their prices were 2 pence per litre cheaper. I have not bought at BP, apart from once on a motorway, as their prices are guaranteed to be the highest attainable in my 39 years of driving.
