I see uk councils are being asked to find extra cash to pay for the repair of pot holes. The road tax should be used to repair our roads but it isnt thanks to the theifing government.

Re: Pot holes.bigdazz,I can believe that. When they sort the roads they will just fill the pot holes in with a slim bit of tarmacadam. Thats all Fife council does with the pot holes, instead of digging up the roads and renew the whole lot. Its about time they started to repair the roads properly these days. They get enogh money from our road taxes to do that with but the councils and government are to tight to part with OUR money.

Re: Pot holes.Best pot hole repairs I have seen were on the Tayside stretch of road between Killin and Ballinluig - instead of just dropping a blob of tar into the hole or cutting the hole square and then filling it, the engineers had made a diamond shape and filled that - the benefit was that as the car tyre moved onto the patch it did it in a gradual manner rather than an abrupt square hit. Made for better suspension sympathy and less impact and after bounce damage to the road. How many roads elsewhere do you see the pothole failing within a week of being filled? David

Re: Pot holes.well after going round the m25 from j29 to j28 there is shed loads of them there. and they really did sh*t me up when i went over them, and i fought i had done some damage in my fronty
but luckly i hadnt, but if i was in any other car i would think that i would have done quite a bit of damage. and the worst part is that the road works are there making another lane so they could easly have poped out and filled afew of the holes up at night CARTREK

Re: Pot holes. What really annoys me with this, is that road tax (Vehicle Excise Duty) was originally put in place to pay for roads. Other that sheer greed on the Government's part (which we all already know they are!) I can't see why there is a problem with the roads. British motorists pay the most to keep their cars on the roads thanks to greed, so why the hell shouldn't we have the best roads?
If all motorists clubbed together, instead of having fuel protests, we all refused to pay road tax...I'M SURE THE GOVERNMENT WOULD STAND UP AND LISTEN THEN !! I know I'm but....so ?? Anyway, I'm off my now. Jim and Phoenix
