Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.Does it happen under load? Cruising? or when Idling? Is it immediately after startup etc.
Any other info you could provide would be good with regards the conditions it happens under along with the year and engine code if known.

Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.Right guys just had a chat with my mate, when he,s driving the car under normal load, when he stop,s the car and switches off.go back to car say 10 mins later engine will start then die, then takes about 4/5 good crank,s to start runs ok again but the problem persist,s.engine management light is on permanent and it,s a "p" reg sorry sir doris no engine No.as yet.thank,s again.
Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.Engine management light is a good start. Can you find the OBD (where you plug the laptop into). If so you might be able to get the fault code using the paperclip method.
http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_cod ... _codes.htm This site will tell you how to get the codes and what they mean. I am thinking crank sensor personally, but I could be wrong. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.Well I'm just having a flyer here, but sounds like egr valve. That if this engine has one. Not too sure with the Corsa's
SHE MUST GET BIGGER BOOTS

Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.I seem to remember my neighbour having the same trouble on her 1000cc corsa and that turned out to be the coolant temp sensor...Check that if i was you fella and also check to see if the idle speed control valve is working ok....Similar troubles on most older zetec focuses and that was it..ICD valve
Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.Just out of curiosity what type of fuel system does the Corsa have and when did this problem fiirst start?? Some if not all the three cylinder 1000cc Corsa's run a carbed or single point injection system engine which could be feezing up...Does the cutting out tie in with the cold spell??
Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.Depending on age and number of valves its either SPi (8valve) or ecotec (16valve.)

Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.There cant be that many different 1.0 engines in a corsa for a given year. So, What year is it?
Hot/warm start issues have a few causes. If as you say the engine management light is on permanently then one of the sensors has most likely failed or has a break in the wiring. Best bet is to get the codes read at a garage or via the paperclip method mentioned above (if possible on this vehicle). I would read the codes for you but south wales is a bit of a trek
Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.BIG THANK,S GUYS.the car is now in the garage hopefully with your advice the mechanic has been given all the info,so with a bit of luck all will be sorted.once again BIG THANK,S.
Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.No probs ... let us know what the outcome is.

Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.Right back again, the garage has told him,the cars to old (96)p reg.3 cyclinder 12 valve,to hook up to a dianostic system.but has told him it,s almost certainly the maf sensor,i don,t know .what do you think? he has just bought it £88inc vat, its being fitted tomorrow.like to know your thought,s guys as i don,t want to see him being ripped off.thank,s again.
Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.What they mean is its too old to hook up to their diagnostic system.
It can be read via the method here: www.topbuzz.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm The socket is below and to the right of the steering wheel, quite likely behind the plastic trim. Are you sure its not a 1.2 liter engine? Autodata doesnt list a 1.0 for 1996. I wouldnt have thought it would be the MAF sensor, as a failure doesnt prevent the car from starting and running albeit with slightly reduced power. Quite possibly the Engine coolant Temperature sensor, a fairly common issue on vauxhalls of that age
Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.Thank,s sir-doris,apparently it,s a non exchange part,how much roughly for a replacement tempsensor.cos i found a maf sensor for £40.thank,s again guys
Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.Hi guys back again, the garage where he took it seems to me just want to rip him off (£45) to fit the maf sensor.which is going on anyroads.can anybody tell me the name of the screw type jubilee clip fitting heads are please, not philips/flathead,i only ask cos i want to make sure i take the correct head fitting for my screwdriver as he lives a few miles out.also he will buy the engine temp sensor..now a little bit of advice for me please, what type of fault code reader fits my fronty, mine is the 2.2 "x22se" ecotech. "w" reg 2000.and what sort of price range can i be looking at sorry for bombarding you with all these questions guy,s thank,s again in advance guys
Re: HELP PLEASE/CORSA CUTOUT.Problem solved.fingers crossed.it seems the maf sensor was kaput, since we put the new 1 on car is running a dream, just can,t out the dash lite, sorry guys don,t know how to paperclip method it.
