Re: Motor trade insuranceI've used ChoiceQuote for the last few years and they seem to have been consistantly the cheapest. I paid £411.16 for this years premium and that covers me for all Cars (exclusions apply to super cars & some classics), 4x4's, Vans & trucks upto 7.5 Tons & Motorcycles. Also covers my private vehicles as well. However there's no cover for "Customer Test Drives" but I don't really sell enough vehicles to warrant paying the extra for that.
Give them a try on 08004402163 or www.choicequote.co.uk
Re: Motor trade insuranceYou thinking 4x4s or all sorts?

Re: Motor trade insuranceIt's mainly because Equity Red Star who used to underwright the majority of the Motor Trade Policy's have pulled out of the market recently due to sustaining some pretty large losses. As a result all of the cheaper policy's have vanished and there's now very little competition in the Motor Trade Section.
As a result of this my premium this year has nearly doubled Not good times for the Motor Trade at the minute
Re: Motor trade insuranceMy renewal was £430 this year, but thats with Sally on it...
The company I am with are only renewing existing trade policies, and are not taking new trade policies, I have tried for a couple of my mates. Be careful with NCB when taking out trade insurance... Many trade insurers will discount for your current NCB on your regular car policy, and will reward more no claims discount for each year claim free...BUT and a big BUT, more often that not you cant then use NCB from a trade policy on a regular policy, so coming out you can be like the newbie to insurance again and get proper stung. So consider how long you are likely to need the policy, if short time it might be worth NOT using your current NCB. Large excesses, no windscreen cover, and payouts at trade price are another downside to these policies, as are the notification stuff you now need to do for the MID...
